Pre and post treatment

Pre-treatment

  • We encourage being well hydrated and having adequate food intake prior to receiving any IV infusions as this may help to alleviate any side effects during treatment.

Post-treatment

  • Frequent urination - particularly if you have received a 1L bag of fluid

  • Potential swelling, bruising or tenderness at the cannulation site - we will use a compression bandage to help with same and also encourage elevating your arm or using a cold pack if experiencing particular discomfort.

  • We advise against lifting heavy weights or strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours.

  • We encourage monitoring your cannulation site and if experiencing any soreness, tenderness or pain along the vein, redness, fever or breakdown of the skin to contact us.
