IV Therapy + Ingredients

Vitamins, minerals and nutrients are essential for your body and its functioning, however the body cannot create some of these vitamins on its own and must be obtained from external sources, mainly through our diet.

If your gut is not functioning optimally, IV therapy is an effective alternative treatment, as it bypasses the digestive system and allows vitamins, minerals and nutrients to go directly into the blood stream to be absorbed.

IV therapy provides more efficient and effective support to body heal and recover, as well as function better and in a more optimal state.

At IVT Sydney, we want to provide transparency in our clinical care for your treatment and have provided a list of our ingredients included in our IV infusions as listed below.

Minerals & Nutrients

Minerals are inorganic elements that are essential for various bodily functions. Whereas nutrients are essential substances that provide energy, support growth and maintenance and facilitate various bodily functions.

  • Magnesium supplementation has many benefits and having adequate levels is linked to proper muscle and nerve functioning as well as energy production. It can be beneficial for:

    • Improved mood by supporting brain chemistry and neurotransmitter regutaion

    • May protect against inflammation

    • Protective against insulin resistance

    • Help reduce blood pressure

    • Supports and may help to imrpove exercise performance

    • May help with migraine in terms of frequency and severirty

    • May improve premenstural symotoms

  • Selenium is nutritionally essential for humans as it is a constituent in more than two dozen selenoproteins that play critical roles in reproduction, thyroid hormone metabolism, DNA synthesis and protection from oxidative damage and infection.

  • Zinc is the second most abundant trace metal in the body, functioning as a cofactor in over 300 different enzymes.

It plays a vital role in wound healing, DNA synthesis and in taste and smell. It promotes wound healing, regulates immune function and is necessary for protein synthesis and the processing of collagen.

Alongside Vitamin C, we love using Zinc to boost the immune system and provide maximum antioxidative benefits.

  • Similar to the B vitamins, Choline can be made in the liver and is an essential nutrient that supports brain and nerve functions and used for Liver diseases including Chronic Hepatitis and Cirrhosis as well as conditions relating to the Brain - Depression, memory loss, Alzheimer's disease, Dementia, Huntington's chorea, Tourette's disease, cerebellar ataxia, epilepsy and Schizophrenia.

  • IV fluids are used to help restore or maintain normal fluid volume and electrolyte balance. At IVT Sydney we use:

    1. 0.9% Normal Saline which is made up of water and sodium chloride (salt) and

    2. Hartmann's Solution which is made up of Minerals - Sodium and Potassium Chloride, Calcium Chloride Dihydrate and Sodium Lactate 60% in water for injection.

Vitamins

Vitamins are substances that our bodies need to develop and function normally.

  • Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant that is needed for growth and repair of tissues in all parts of the body. It is used to form an important protein that maintains skin, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels. It also helps heal wounds and maintains cartilage, bones and your teeth.

Vitamin C is such a strong antioxidant that it can protect the body from damage caused from the build up of free radicals and toxins.

  • Vitamin D is an important vitamin as it helps the body absorb calcium, magnesium and phosphate. It is important for bone health, muscle health and overall health. It mostly comes from food and sunlight.

  • Also known as Vitamin B8, despite not actually being a vitamin.

Inositol is a carbohydrate with a similar chemical structure to glucose.

It may help to reduce anxiety by affecting serotonin response, aid blood sugar control by improving insulin sensitivity and beneficial for improving the function of the ovaries and fertility in women with PCOS.

Amino Acids

Amino Acids are important building blocks of proteins. They also play a critical role in metabolism and intermediate compounds.

  • Glutathione is a tripeptide that is made of three amino acids - cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine.

It is found in all cells in the body such as the bile, epithelial lining fluid of the lungs and in smaller concentrations in the blood.

Glutathione is a superstar antioxidant which performs phase II detoxification in the liver of heavy metals and toxins.

    It also functions to

    • store and transport cysteine throughout th ebody

    • transport amino acids into the kidney cells

    • regulates the cell cycle, DNA and protein synthesis and gene expression

    • maintains mitochondrial function and integrity

    • regulating cell proliferation and supporting the immune system

    • participates in bile production

  • GABA is an amino acid best known for its role as a neurotransmitter that acts on the brain and central nervous system. It is produced in the brain from Glutamate.

The main function of GABA is to reduce the activity of nerve cells in the nervous system.

It is often used to promote healthy sleep, in reducing stress and anxiety and easing premenstrual symptoms.

  • Arginine is an amino acid that is semi-essential, dependant on your health status, which is used in the biosynthesis of proteins.

It plays a role in cell division, the healing of wounds, removing ammonia from the body, immune function and the release of hormones. In particular, it is effective at increasing growth hormone levels.

  • Carnitine is found in nearly all cells of the body. It plays a critical role in energy production, transporting long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria so they can be oxidized (burned) to produce energy. It also helps to lower cholesterol.

  • Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in the body stored in the muscles, followed by the lungs.

It is important for removing excess ammonia, helping to support the immune system function and may be needed for normal brain function and digestion.

  • Lysine is an essential amino acid and is important for proper growth of the body, as well as playing an essential role in the production of Carnitine and in the formation of collagen. It also appears to help the body absorb calcium. As the body cannot make it, Lysine intake is via food intake.

  • Similar to Lysine, Methionine is an essential amino acid obtained via food intake. It is a precursor to other amino acids such as carnitine and in more recent research, has shown that it can regulate metabolic processes, immune system, and digestive functioning.

  • Ornithine plays a central role in the urea cycle and is important for the disposal of excess ammonia in the body.

  • Taurine is the most abundant intracellular sulphur containing amino. It functions to:

    • Assist in bile salt formation and fat digestion

    • Assist in the maintenance of homeostasis of intracellular sodium and calcium concentrations

    • Acts as an antioxidant

    • Has been shown to effectively treat alcoholism and fatigue

    • Can be used to relieve anxiety, epilepsy, hyperactivity and depression.

  • Glycine is a non-essential amino acid which plays a critical role in controlling epigenetics. It

    • is a precursor for a variety of important metabolites

    • acts as a neurotransmitter in the central nervous system and has many roles such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, cryoprotective and immunomodulatory in peripheral and nervous tissues

    • With oral supplementation at a proper dosage, has been successful in decreasing several metabolic disorders in individuals with cardiovascular disease, various inflammatory diseases, cancers, diabetes and obesity.

  • Serine is a non-essential amino acid and a precursor for glycine that comes in two forms, L-serine and D-serine.

L-serine may help to improve sleep, whereas, D-serine can function to help with mental health functioning.

B Vitamins

B vitamins consist of eight essential nutrients that help your body’s metabolism and are essential for the proper working of the nervous system, cardiovascular system and other functions.

  • Our B-Complex is comprised of B1, B2, B3 and B5 vitamins.

As B vitamins are essential for converting food into energy, we recommend our B-Complex and use it in our infusions to help provide a boost of energy.

  • B1 (Thiamine) allows the body to use carbohydrates as energy, is important for glucose metabolism and is a critical vitamin for the brain and nervous system.

The health benefits of B1 include the alleviation of conditions such as Depression, Anxiety, Back Pain, Sciatica, Fibromyalgia, Diabetic Neuropathy, Diabetes and Thyroid and Hashimoto's disease.

  • B2 (Riboflavin-5-phosphate) is used for the development of skin, lining of the digestive tract, blood cells and other vital organs.

It works as an antioxidant against free radicals which can damage cells/ DNA as well as the development of health conditions such as heart disease and cancer.

  • B3 (Niacinamide) is required for proper utilisation of fats and sugars in the body. It is known for lowering LDL Cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood.

  • B5 (Dexpanthanol) is critical for manufacturing red blood cells, it is also important for the break down of fats and carbohydrates and converting it into energy.

    B5 has other functions including:

    • Playing a crticial role in the manufacture of red blood cells

    • Playing a role in the sex and stress-related hormones produced by the adrenal glands

    • Maintaining a healthy Gastrointestinal tract

    • Assisting in the usage of other vitamins, especially vitamin B2

    • It is needed to synthesize cholesterol

  • Item description
  • B7 (Biotin) is involved in a wide range of metabolic processes, primarily relating to the utilisation of fats, carbohydrates and amino acids.

  • B12 (Cobalamin) is required for proper red blood cell formation, neurological function and DNA synthesis. There are various forms of B12 with the most common as cyanocobalamin, hydroxocobalamin, methylcobalamin and 5-deoxyadensosylcobalamin.

At IVT Sydney we offer B12 as Methylcobalmin as it is the active form of Vitamin B12 and considered one of the best due to its bioavailability (meaning it doesn't require conversion). It is helpful in the body's methylation process (particularly for those with certain MTHFR mutations), in preventing cognitive decline and reducing heart disease.
